Short biography
Dr. Paolo Lauriola is an environmental and occupational epidemiologist with extensive experience in public health, environmental health, and climate change policy. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Modena, where he also specialized in Hygiene, Preventive Medicine, and Medical Statistics.
Over four decades, Dr. Lauriola has held leading roles within national and international institutions, including the Italian Ministry of Health, the WHO, the European Commission, and the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), where he currently serves as President. He is a member of the Scientific and Executive Committees of ISDE Italy, of the Environment and Health Working Group of the Italian Federation of Medical Orders (FNOMCeO), and serves on the Steering Committee of the International Network for Public Health and Environmental Tracking (INPHET).
His work focuses on integrating environmental determinants into primary health care, strengthening intersectoral collaboration, and advancing community-based environmental health surveillance through the Italian Network of Sentinel Physicians for the Environment (RIMSA), which he coordinates.
