Short biography
Professor Rainer Stegmann studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig where he received also his Dr.-Ing degree (PhD). Rainer Stegmann is a retired Director of the Department of Waste ResourcesManagement at the Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg), Germany. Prof. Stegmann stayed for 1 year as a Post-Doc at the University Wisconsin, Madison, USA. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the Technical University of Crete, Greece. He served as the Director of the Residues and Resource Recycling Centre (R3C) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and held visiting professorships at several leading international universities. He is a Founding Member of the International Waste Working Group (IWWG) and has chaired or co-chaired over 20 international and national conferences on waste management and environmental engineering.
