
Short biography
Professor Martins obtained her Degree in Chemical Engineering (1990) from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, where she also completed her PhD (1996) and Habilitation (2015) in Chemistry. Since 2023, she has been a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the same institution.
Her research excellence has been recognized globally, being listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University since 2019. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), a member of the American Chemical Society, and currently serves as Vice President of the Portuguese Chemical Society. Professor Martins has also held leadership roles, including President of the Portuguese Electrochemical Society, and has led multiple successful research projects.
